ROADSIDE EMERGENCY PHONE STUDY

Salient Consultants were brought in by the client as Subject Matter Experts to undertake a study and provide a report on the background, history and current trends for roadside emergency phones on the Auckland Motorway network.
The study included interviews with local stakeholders and research into international trends and best practice.

ITS MAINTENANCE AND AUDITING

Our client for this project wanted to get a better understanding of the condition and reliability for national roadside assets to allow them to develop informed asset Forward Works Plans for asset renewals.

An interim maintenance provision between contracts allowed the flexibility to develop new methods of maintaining and recording asset data, while significantly improving the condition and performance of assets.

Salient developed new detailed maintenance and asset auditing standards and implemented these through mobile form technology that could be used in the field, even at remote sites with no mobile communications.

The result was significantly improved maintenance quality and asset data which has allowed for significant savings through deferred renewals, improved asset reliability and the client has retendered the contract confident in the scope of the works.

NATIONAL ITS ASSET DATA – NEW ZEALAND

As part of the broader national ITS maintenance contract Salient managed the update, validation and auditing of national data for a range of roadside technology assets.

Clients have benefitted from having their asset data available through freely available and widely used applications using geospatial mapping and information.

This has allowed a better understanding of the ITS assets to be developed and gaps to be identified across New Zealand’s NOC contracts.

PROCESS MAPPING

The client for this project wanted to map processes for their business to ensure that the business could continue to operate smoothly following a significant change in staff.

Interviews and workshops were held with key stakeholders and the processes were mapped, reviewed and approved based on how the processes need to work rather than quality shortcuts that often occur in business.

The client internal team developed the less complex processes that with the more complex core activities provided a map for who the business should run in terms of repeat activities.
